WHAT TO EXPECT?
Sémillon is often the quiet partner in Bordeaux's famous white blends, but here it gets to take centre stage.
Expect lemon, ripe stone fruit and a touch of honey, with a creamy, rounded palate and subtle vanilla and nutty notes from the oak. There's enough acidity underneath to keep the wine fresh, while the finish has a lovely mineral feel.
The result is generous without being heavy — a white that's just as happy alongside dinner as it is in your glass on its own.
ABOUT THE PRODUCTION
The grapes are grown at Monfaucon Estate, where the vineyard is farmed organically and follows biodynamic principles. The estate handcrafts its wines from grapes grown on the property, with the Prestige range receiving light oak treatment for added texture and complexity.
The estate's philosophy is refreshingly straightforward: oak should add another layer to the wine, not take over. As Monfaucon puts it, when used with restraint, oak can add “extra layers of loveliness”
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Château de Monfaucon is an independent Bordeaux estate specialising in white wines. Sitting close to the Dordogne, the estate is unusual in the region for its focus on Sémillon, Muscadelle, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
The wines are made from the estate's own grapes, with the team deliberately taking a less traditional approach to Bordeaux white wine. And then there's the name: Nobody's Perfect.
It's not meant to take the wine less seriously — quite the opposite. The estate says the name reflects their approach of taking winemaking seriously without taking themselves too seriously
