Casajou La Teixonera 2022 is a beautifully distinctive sparkling wine from a tiny vineyard in Penedès, made entirely from Garnatxa Negra. Fresh, fruity and finely sparkling, it has plenty of character without losing its easy-drinking appeal.
We love it because there is so much personality behind the bottle. The vineyard is just 0.8 hectares, surrounded by woodland and named after the small river that runs around it. Add in the tiny production of just 980 bottles and you've got a sparkling wine that's genuinely special — and a long way from your everyday fizz.
What to Expect
Fresh green apple and citrus sit alongside a touch of peach and stone fruit. The palate is lively and fruity, with fine bubbles, refreshing acidity and a lovely textured feel. Brut Nature keeps the finish dry and fresh.

ABOUT THE WINE
La Teixonera comes from a tiny 0.8-hectare vineyard planted with Garnatxa Negra in 2015. The parcel sits at around 190 metres above sea level and is surrounded by woodland, with clay soils and a distinctly Mediterranean setting.
The vineyard takes its name from the small river that surrounds the parcel. The 2022 vintage produced just 980 bottles, making this a genuinely small-production wine.
Although Garnatxa Negra is usually associated with red wines, here it is used to make a fresh sparkling wine with a very different expression of the grape.
ABOUT THE PRODUCTION
The vines are worked ecologically, with the grapes harvested by hand in mid-August. The 2022 fruit underwent a period of maceration before the juice was separated for the sparkling wine.
La Teixonera is made as a Brut Nature, giving a dry, fresh style that lets the fruit and vineyard character come through. The wine has 12% ABV and is best served chilled at around 6–8°C.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Celler Casajou was founded by Laia Esmel and Jaume Vilaseca, who returned to their childhood home in Sant Jaume Sesoliveres in 2020 to create their own small winery.
Their philosophy is simple: put the vineyard first and stay closely connected to nature and the rural landscape. They work with small parcels and make limited-production wines designed to express the character of their individual vineyards rather than producing large volumes.
La Teixonera is a perfect example of that approach — one tiny vineyard, one distinctive grape variety and a very limited number of bottles.
