Ca’ di Mat Los Peros Tinto 2021 is a small-production, single-vineyard Garnacha from the high-altitude vineyards of the Sierra de Gredos. The old bush vines are planted on granite at around 850 metres and are farmed organically and dry-farmed, relying on natural rainfall rather than regular irrigation - giving the wine a real sense of place.

The 2021 vintage brings together ripe cherry and berry fruit with Mediterranean herbs, floral notes and a subtle spicy edge. It’s structured and concentrated, but fresh acidity and fine tannins keep everything balanced. We love it because it shows the depth and character of old-vine Garnacha without ever feeling heavy.

What to Expect

Ripe cherry, raspberry and blackberry sit alongside dried flowers, Mediterranean herbs and a gentle peppery spice. The palate is full and layered, with fresh acidity, fine-grained tannins and a long, savoury finish.

  • ABOUT THE WINE

Los Peros is a single vineyard in San Martín de Valdeiglesias, in the Sierra de Gredos, at around 850 metres above sea level. The vineyard is planted with old Garnacha bush vines, estimated to be around 90 years old, growing on granite soils.

The combination of altitude, old vines and granitic soils gives the wine its distinctive balance of concentration and freshness. The vineyard is organically cultivated and dry-farmed, with the natural conditions helping the Garnacha retain freshness despite the warm climate.

  • ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

The grapes are hand harvested and fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. The wine undergoes a gentle maceration before ageing in large French oak foudre, allowing the fruit, tannins and mineral character of the vineyard to develop without overwhelming the wine with oak.

For the 2021 vintage, the wine was aged for around two years, with approximately 3,900 bottles produced.
