El Valiente — “The Brave” — 2022 from Bodegas Valdaya is a tribute to the resilience of Ribera del Duero’s high-altitude vineyards. Sourced from 30–50 year old Tempranillo vines in Gumiel de Mercado and Baños de Valdearados in Burgos, these plots sit 850–900 metres above sea level, where warm days and cool nights shape wines of freshness and elegance.
The deep clay soils naturally retain moisture, helping the vines thrive through Ribera’s dry summers while maintaining balance in the fruit. Fermented in small tanks and aged for 12 months in large French oak barrels, the wine reveals dark berries, floral hints of violet and gentle balsamic spice with silky tannins.
We love it for its energy and authenticity — a modern Ribera rooted in place, patience and thoughtful vineyard stewardship.

WHAT TO EXPECT?
Aromas of black cherry, plum and wild berries are layered with hints of violet and balsamic herbs. On the palate the wine is velvety and expressive, with fresh acidity and rounded tannins bringing lift and balance. The style is fruit-driven yet elegant — a Ribera that shows power with finesse.
